The title of «fastest car in the world» is coveted and the competition is fierce. In 2024, the title goes to the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, which recorded a top speed of 530 km/h in early 2023.
The car’s 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine generates 1,600 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, contributing significantly to this impressive speed. However, Koenigsegg’s engineering team has equipped the vehicle with many other great features, not just mind-blowing power.
A triumph of aerodynamics and innovation
In addition to the 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut excels with its refined aerodynamic design. Its carbon fiber bodywork is carefully sculpted to optimize airflow, helping to reduce drag and maximize speed.
A luxurious and customizable interior
Despite its focus on performance, Jesko Absolut doesn’t skimp on comfort and luxury. Its interior is crafted from the highest quality materials and offers opulent space for driver and passenger. The seats are made of fine leather and can be customized with a variety of colors and stitching.
An unprecedented driving experience
The Jesko Absolut is not only a fast car, but also extremely pleasant to drive. Its adaptive suspension offers a perfect balance between comfort and handling, allowing the driver to easily navigate twisty roads or enjoy a smooth ride on the highway.
An exclusive collector’s item
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is a limited edition car with just 125 examples made, making it a highly coveted collector’s item for car enthusiasts around the world. The price of a copy is estimated to be between 3 and 5 million dollars.
2nd place. Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ is a limited edition of the Chiron model, built with one purpose: to achieve top speed. With an 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1,600 hp and optimized aerodynamics, the Super Sport 300+ reached a speed of 490.48 km/h in 2019, breaking the mythical 300 mph barrier.
In addition to its astonishing speed, the Super Sport 300+ stands out for its distinctive design, with a longer, more aerodynamic body, a larger rear spoiler and unique alloy wheels. The interior is made of premium leather and carbon fiber, providing a luxurious and comfortable space for passengers.
Production was limited to just 30 units, each priced at 3.2 million euros. Although no longer in production, the Super Sport 300+ remains one of the fastest cars in the world and an outstanding example of cutting-edge automotive engineering and design.
This top speed-focused Chiron derivative already boasts an active record of 490.48 km/h.
3rd place Hennessey Venom F5
The Texan hypercar maker aims to dethrone Bugatti with this 1,817 hp creation. Hennessey Venom F5 is an American-made hypercar by Hennessey Special Vehicles, designed to deliver astonishing speeds and extreme acceleration. The focal point of the F5 is the 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 engine nicknamed “Fury”, capable of delivering 1817 HP and 1617 Nm of torque. Hennessey aims to break the 500km/h mark with the Venom F5, making it the uncrowned king of speed.
The Venom F5 has a carbon fiber body built to minimize weight and maximize aerodynamics. The interior is focused on functionality but has premium finishes, a balance between luxury and track spirit. Exclusivity is a strong point of F5. Production will be limited to just 24 units, each priced at approximately $2.1 million. Although the goal of becoming the fastest production car is still ongoing, the Venom F5 is already considered one of the most impressive hypercars ever created.
4th place
The Croatian electric hypercar boasts crazy acceleration times from 0-100 km/h, leaving internal combustion engine supercars behind. Rimac Nevera is an electric hypercar that redefines the concept of performance. Equipped with four electric motors, one for each wheel, the Nevera develops the astonishing power of 1914 HP and an instant torque of 2360 Nm. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.85 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 412 km/h.
It features a torque vectoring (R-AWTV) system that distributes power independently to each wheel, maximizing traction and agility. Its 120 kWh H-shaped battery offers an impressive range for an electric hypercar of up to 550 km (WLTP). Furthermore, the Nevera is also an object of art, with aerodynamic bodywork sculpted from carbon fiber and a stylish interior. Production is limited to 150 units, each of which costs around 2 million euros.
5th place for the Aston Martin Valkyrie
Designed in collaboration with Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, the Aston Martin Valkyrie promises specific performance for a racing vehicle. With a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 engine and a hybrid KERS system, the Valkyrie develops a total power of 1160 HP and a torque of 900 Nm. The performances are astonishing: acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 2 .5 seconds and an estimated top speed of over 400 km/h. The Valkyrie is designed for maximum aerodynamics, with an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber body and an aggressive design that cuts through the air with precision.
The interior is minimalist and driver-focused, with a low driving position and performance-optimized ergonomics. The materials used are of the highest quality, offering a feeling of luxury and exclusivity. Valkyrie is a limited edition with only 150 examples produced. The price is astronomical, around 3 million euros, but for those who can afford it it is a unique opportunity to own a piece of automotive art and a car that redefines the limits of performance.
We continue the list of the fastest cars of 2024 (positions 6-10)
Porsche 911 Turbo S: A point of reference among supercars for everyday use, the 911 Turbo S accelerates violently and continues to improve.
Ferrari SF90 Stradale: Ferrari’s first plug-in hybrid is based on Formula 1 technology and offers extraordinary performance.
McLaren 765LT: The extreme «Longtail» variant of the McLaren 720S model is a dream for track driving enthusiasts.
Lamborghini Huracán STO: Lamborghini focuses on handling and driving sensations similar to the STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) version of the Huracan.
Nissan GT-R Nismo: Despite being based on an older platform, the Nissan GT-R Nismo remains very competitive thanks to continuous updates.
As the automotive industry continues to evolve, we’re likely to see new models that push the boundaries of what we think is possible. One thing is certain: the future of speed is bright and exciting.
